Breathe and Play Every Day
Building a Stronger Community Through Yoga-One Person at a Time.
I am a creative and dynamic educator who makes yoga approachable and accessible for everyone, including children. I am committed to a ‘whole person’ approach to teaching, taking into more than just a student’s surface behaviors and appearance. I am a licensed yoga teacher and registered through the Yoga Alliance, RYT-200. I am a licensed master's level NYS social worker with extensive experience providing services to children and families.
My yoga journey began after the birth of my son in 2011. I was looking for an outlet to release stress & reconnect with my body. My journey practicing yoga has ebbed and flowed through the years; sometimes I practiced daily and sometimes not at all.
As I struggled with self-limiting beliefs about body image, I began to use yoga to focus my attention on the mind-body connection; allowing me to be more comfortable with my true self.
This led me to enroll in Breathe For Change, a yoga teacher training and social emotional wellness program for educators. It was a complex, beautiful and life-changing learning experience for me.
Yoga is a powerful tool for social emotional learning. It allows us to tie together mind, body, and spirit in several ways. We learn to notice and reflect on what we are experiencing. We pay closer attention to our bodies’ needs and our bodies’ physiological responses. We can then respond to and to use the power of breath to calm and focus our minds.
Since completed my initial yoga teacher training, I have been fortunate to teach in various settings, in-person and virtually including: schools, individual classrooms, camp programs and my current offering of outdoor "Backyard" yoga classes.
